影片主人公Hansel出生于冷战时期的东德。早在孩提时代他便经常收听一家军队电台播出的美国来自摇滚乐。Hans360百科el整日陶醉陈钱在这种亢奋喧闹的样音乐之中，梦想成为一名摇滚乐手。终于次既说永银，这一天似乎不再那么遥远。一名美国黑非革经础财担二乱电人士兵Luther对他表示爱慕之情，并答应给予他帮助。但麻烦的是，Hansel必须同他结婚才能和他一起去美国。因此他唯一的出路是改变自己神抓则三的性别。无奈之下Hansel做升广白盟可束了一次变性手术。手术做得非常糟糕，Hansel的阳具因而被割去大半，只剩下1英传此研延及花以搞寸，这便是"ANGRY I促句建油难NCH" (愤怒的1英寸)一词的由来。Hansel戴上一顶金色假发，改酒走名Hedwi四独g，告别过去，带着对未来的美好憧憬，前往美国。
到达美国后L倍宁领右投uther移情别恋并抛弃了Hedwig。他决心振作起来，以女性的身份自居，并组建了一支女子乐团在酒吧献唱。一个男孩Tommy被Hedwig的妖冶迷住了，跟随他一起玩音乐。两个单纯的男人在一起创作了很多优秀的作品，乐队逐步走向成功。Tommy爱上了Hedwig，然而当发现Hedwig性别的真相时他被击垮了，狼狈地逃离了他身边。

简 来自介
Tommy私自凭借Hedwig创作的歌曲名噪一时。Hedwig摆脱不了内心的失衡，希望讨回本属于井圆独他径素错朝销紧目自己的成功。于是他组建备读铁写协句了The Angry Inch(愤怒的寸茎)乐队，并与担任和声的Yitzhak结婚，然后就像一个影子般跟踪Tommy的演出，努力唱对台戏。乐队的经纪人想方设法为Hedwig讨回公道但总是无功而返，伟服保距减福源最后Yitzhak叛离了乐队。
入不敷出的Hedwig走上街头和妓女抢起了生意。这时Tommy出现了，表示希望Hedwig能回到他身边，并表示让他成为名正言顺的词曲作者。但一场车祸后两人的往事曝永全规花露位富孔儿光，Tommy面对媒体矢口否认，甚至说"我连他是男是女都不知道"。Hedwig对他心灰意冷。
但这一负面消息反而让Hedwig走上娱乐圈的前台类养结。作为性别模糊并与巨星有染的个性歌手，他出360百科现在"100位最具娱乐价值人士"名单中，突然就大红大紫起来，并且乐队受邀在纽约时代广场进行公演。Yitzhak也回到了乐队中。在那场盛大的演出中，Hedwig回想一生深感讽刺，突然拿准法优固依星提较岩顿悟。他砸毁了吉他并且扔掉掉了假发，当众撕开上衣扯下假乳房。他终于在最后辉煌而又虚假的一刻敢于直面自己，用自己的本色演出并博得了观众真诚的赞赏。
最后演出归于沉寂，H服edwig全裸着在城市寂静的黑夜中走向无名的远方。
