　　Paul Leni (1885~1929)，1885年 7月18日生于斯图加特,1929年卒于美国洛杉矶。早年学习绘画,后在M.莱因哈特的剧院任演员、美工师和导演。1913年从影，先在《猫走的路》(1913)中担任美工师，以后导演了《睡来自美人》(1917)、《蜡像陈列底伤晚馆》(1924)等影片。后者被认为是表现主义电影最后一部代表作。由于这部影片受到欢迎，他被连聘往好莱坞拍片。
